Anil Gopinathan

Dr Anil currently serves as the head of Division of Interventional Radiology, Department of Radiology at National University Hospital, Singapore. Dr Anil has over 14 years of experience in the field of interventional radiology. He has been working in NUHS as an interventional radiologist since 2010 and has previously worked as an honorary Consultant Radiologist at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals, United Kingdom. He has performed several hundreds of peripheral vascular and body interventions (including liver transplant related interventions, DEB TACE & Y90 radioembolisations for liver cancers and thermal ablations for various malignancies). His special interest is in minimally invasive neuro-vascular therapies and has established this as an in-house service at NUHS. He has also introduced new neuorinterventional services such as intra-arterial chemosurgery for retinoblastoma and dural venous sinus stenting for idiopathic intracranial hypertension.

Assistant Professor Vincent Nga

Assistant Professor Vincent Nga is currently a Consultant with the Division of Neurosurgery, National University Health System. He was awarded the Academic Medicine Development Award 2014 for which he underwent 2 years of further training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, United Kingdom. surgery. He subsequently completed his Clinical Fellowship in Paediatric Neurosurgery at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) Toronto, Canada. His clinical and research interests include Paediatric Neurosurgery, Neuro-oncology, Neurovascular Surgery, Traumatic Head Injuries, Hydrocephalus and Biodegradable Skull Reconstructive Materials.

Prof Bengt Karlsson

Prof Karlsson currently serves as the Head of Gamma Knife Centre and is a Visiting consultant with the Division of Neurosurgery at National University Hospital. He has been working with gamma knife surgery since 1986 and has treated more than 7000 cases. He is very well published in the neurosurgical literature, providing latest evidence and updates in usage of gamma knife surgery for various neurosurgical conditions including tumours and vascular malformations.

Dr James Khoo

Dr James Khoo is a neurosurgeon at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. His major research interests are Pineal Hormones – Melatonin, Cerebro-Vascular Disease, Stroke, Brain tumours, Neck and Lumbar Spine Disorders. Outside of work, Dr Khoo is the Chairman of the Conservation Advisory Panel, URA since 2001 and the Honorary Chairman of the Asian Civilisations Museum since 2004. He is also an amateur collector of Southeast Asia Arts and coordinator of the Riau Singapore People’s project (Charity Medical and Social AID) from 1997 till present.

Dr Eka Wahjoepramono

Prof Eka serves as Chairman of Neuroscience Centre in Siloam Hospital. He is the President of the Congress Annual Scientific Meeting of Indonesia Society of Neurological Surgeons 2006 and President Elect of the Asian Oceanian International Congress on Skull Base Surgery, 2010-2012. He is the founder of Indonesian Brain Foundation. He currently sits as Dean of the Universitas Pelita Harpan (UPH), Faculty of Medicine.

Dr Azman Raffiq

Dr Raffiq currently serves as the Head of Department & Consultant) at Pulau Pinang Hospital, Malaysia. His areas of interest include vascular and skull base surgery.

Dr Ivan Ng

Dr Ivan Ng is a neurosurgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore and is a visiting consultant at National Neuroscience Institute. With more than 20 years’ experience in the field. he provides specialised care in skull base neurosurgery, brain tumour treatments and neurovascular surgery. Dr Ng used to head the Acute Brain Injury Research team at NNI and has been the principal investigator in more than 20 research projects thus far. He is also extensively published in numerous peer-reviewed journals. A frequently mentioned name at conferences, Dr Ng has been an invited speaker at more than 100 Asia-Pacific and international neurosurgical meetings.

Dr Ramez Kirollos

Dr Kirollos currently serves as Senior Consultant at National Neuroscience Institute, Singapore. His subspecialities include Cerebrovascular Surgery and Skull Base Surgery. Dr Kirollos has been actively involved in day-to-day teaching of medical students, junior and middle grade neurosurgical trainees. Dr Kirollos co-founded and directed the Cambridge lectures in Neurosurgical Anatomy in 2005 and the British Neurosurgical Trainee Courses in 2010 and serves as a faculty on the Neuroanatomy of Operative Approaches since its conception in 2005 and numerous national and international courses. In 2006 Dr Kirollos was elected as a member of the Court of Examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. For his commitment to surgical education he received the prestigious Silver Scalpel Award in 2010.

Dr Chao Bao Luo

Dr. Luo currently serves as the Professor of Radiology and Neurosurgery and Chief of Neuroradiology at National Defense Medical Center, Taipei, Taiwan. He is the President of Neuroradiology Society of Taiwan. He is actively involved interventional neuroradiology since 1995. He has done more than 150 cases of cerebrovascular disease in one year, majorly in intracranial aneurysm, cranial dural AVFs, pial AVMs as well as intra-arterial thrombectomy.

Dr Rene Chapot

Dr Rene Chapot is currently serves as the Head of Department of Neuroradiology & Endovascular Therapy, Krupp Foundation, Essen, Germany. He obtained his specialisation in Interventional Neuroradiology at Lariboisière Hospital (Pr Merland) in Paris as “Chef de Clinique” and later “Praticien Hospitalier”. He performed the first case of thrombectomy by aspiration in 1999 in stroke patient5s. Since then he has been involved in developments of various endovascular techniques for treatment of dural fistulae, AVM’s and aneurysms.

Dr Peter Dirks

Dr Peter Dirks currently serves as the head of Division of Neurosurgery at SickKids. He also holds appointments as a senior scientist for Developmental & Stem Cell Biology and Principal Investigator at The Arthur and Sonia Labatt Brain Tumour Research Centre. Dr Dirks’ clinical interests lie with the entire spectrum of paediatric neurosurgical practice, with emphasis on the surgical treatment of childhood brain tumours and brain vascular malformations.

Dr Aaron Cohen-Gadol

Dr. Aaron Cohen-Gadol is the Director of Neurosurgical Oncology and a Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at Indiana University. He also serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences-Neurosurgery at Purdue University. Dr. Cohen-Gadol is a member of numerous international editorial boards. His research has been published in more than 380 peer-reviewed articles, three books, and 17 book chapters. He is also a member of several esteemed professional organizations.

Dr Michael Lawton

Dr Michael T. Lawton is the President and CEO of Barrow Neurological Institute and the Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Lawton’s research studies the formation, underlying genetics, and rupture of brain AVMs, as well as the haemodynamics, rupture, and computational modeling of brain aneurysms. His clinical research studies the anatomy of microsurgical approaches and clinical outcomes of microsurgery for aneurysms, AVMs, and bypass surgery. He is the principal investigator for the Brain Vascular Malformation Consortium, a NIH-funded multi-centre group studying the genetics and clinical course of rare vascular diseases of the brain.

Dr Timo Krings

Dr Timo Krings is a Professor of Radiology and Surgery and the Program Director of Neuroradiology, Department of Medical Imaging at the University of Toronto. He studied Medicine in Aachen, Germany and at Harvard Medical School in Boston. His major research interests dynamic CTA, new modalities of aneurysm treatment, and vessel wall imaging. He is cross appointed at the Hospital for Sick Children where he performs neurovascular paediatric interventional procedures.
